Niblee 1st Cut Western Timothy Hay is harvested early in the growing season, producing a coarser, stem-forward hay with exceptional structural fiber. Grown in trusted West Coast fields and naturally sun-cured, this cut delivers firm chew resistance and high fiber density that many adult rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas thrive on.

1st cut Timothy contains thicker stems and a slightly lower leaf ratio. That translates to greater abrasion for dental wear and strong support for gut motility. It is especially valuable for animals that benefit from additional fiber structure in their daily forage.

Unlike compressed, plastic-wrapped hay that breaks down in storage, our hay is hand-packed loose into boxes and never warehoused long-term. Every box is filled by hand, not machine-compressed, so the long intact strands stay structurally sound from our facility to your animal's bowl. Fiber works best when its structure is preserved.

We never use leftovers, sweepings, meals, or compressed fines. Only clean, structured, long-strand Timothy selected for visible quality and fresh aroma.

Why Choose 1st Cut Timothy

- Higher stem content for strong fiber structure
- Excellent chew resistance for natural dental wear
- Hand-packed loose into boxes, never machine-compressed
- Naturally sun-cured for clean scent and consistency
- Preserves long-strand integrity
- Low dust and minimal fines
- Grown in low-humidity Western climates
- Fresh boxed, not aged in warehouses

Built for Fiber Strength

For many small herbivores, structure matters more than softness. The thicker stems in 1st cut Timothy promote extended chewing, steady gut movement, and balanced intake. It mirrors the coarser grasses animals encounter in natural grazing environments, supporting both digestion and dental health through texture and length.

How to Feed

Provide unlimited access daily. Replace flattened or soiled hay regularly. Store in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness.

A Note on Seasonal Variation

Hay is a living product. Color, texture, and aroma shift with each harvest. Wetter springs bring greener cuts. Drier summers bring firmer stems. Every field's soil, rainfall, and sun exposure leave their mark on what grows.

What stays consistent is the integrity of the cut, the natural sun-curing process, and the long-strand structure your animal needs. When you open a new box from a different harvest and it looks a little different than your last one, that is not inconsistency. That is real hay, grown for your animal, not processed for a shelf.
